oil temp during the winter

I have been flying in 50 deg weather here in south La. My oil temps run at 160 deg. That is higher than the minimum prescribed by Rotax. I was looking for a little higher temps. Does anyone put tape on the oil cooler to block some of the air?

back seat wind

It's a little windy in the back seat. I have 45 hours on the plane. I just started flying from the back. I bought a fabric helmet from Gibson Barnes. My headsets fit on the helmet. I am trying a goggles visor combo. The visor comes done below my chin. It may help with the wind. If anyone has any sug...

oil change

I have 45 hours on my engines. I changed the oil and filter this weekend. Two engines, two oil changes. It took longer than I thought it would. I took the oil tanks off the engines and then drained the oil. The filter had more oil in it than i had been led to believe based on the rotax video guide. ...

Re: Garmin GTR200 Tranciever

I have the garmin radio. i like the radio. I also installed the pm1200 high noise intercom. I don't know if the garmin intercom would work or not. I am happy with the pm1200. It has a push to talk intercom feature which gives your complete silence until you are ready to talk. Without this feature, t...

Re: Wing Painting

I used PPG durafleet paint on the whole plane. I ordered a white wing sail. I used yellow paint so it took 4 coats. Yellow doesn't cover well.
I used the poly-fiber products for all the fabric and then used the PPG for he top coats.

Completed

I am putting the finishing touches on my Air Cam. I have contacted a DAR and hopefully the inspection will take place this week. I started 22 moths ago. Unfortunately, I won't be flying real soon. The insurance requirements are burdensome. Also, I have to get a MEL rating. O well, at least I can go ...

Re: Wiring

The building moved right along until I got to the wiring. Lockwood doesn't provided detailed wiring instructions. You are on your on. I installed a basic 3 pack front and back with a garmin aero in the front middle. With no instruction, it took me several months to complete the wiring under the hood...
