The Marathon Airport (MTH) was a stopping off point for the first-ever AirCam adventure flight in March 1999 when two AirCams and a Drifter flew from Sebring to Key West, Florida. The trio of airplanes dropped in to MTH to refuel and enjoy some conch chowder before flying on to the Keys. This past fall, Marathon Key was the final destination for an AirCam adventure.
To our friends and customers, The Staniel Cay fly in that we worked so hard on planning for the prior two months will have to be cancelled. The Staniel Cay airport is closed as of April 9th. Evidently, this came as a complete suprise to everyone including those on the island. We contacted the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation Authority, and finally got an answer from Miami Flight Service. They said it will be closed till July 9th. We are hoping to reschedule this fly in for the mid or end of November, but will wait on confirming this when we know the airport is open again. We are currently considering replacing this fly in with a destination in the Southeast the middle to end of the same week. We will be working quickly on this. Best regards, Robert Meyer
See you at Sun ’n Fun!
April is here, which means its time for the annual Sun ’n Fun International Fly-In and Expo on Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Lakeland, Florida. The dates are April 21-26, and the AirCam team will be there. We will look forward to seeing you!
Here’s an update on the AirCam enclosure project. The design has been finalized and most testing is complete. Flight testing has been going well, but the factory team still has to complete basic spin testing, which will require the installation of an emergency parachute system.
